Wind Power

Windpower Nepal is partnering with Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and 3E, a Belgian company, on a wind resource assessment of Nepal. It is a 3-year project (2015-2018), that would run into three phases and whose final output would be a Wind Atlas of Nepal.

Nepal wind mapping project is funded by the Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP), a global knowledge and technical assistance program administered by the World Bank. It is being undertaken in close coordination with Alternative Energy Promotion Center (AEPC) and a ‘Task Force’ led by AEPC on behalf of the Government of Nepal and consisting of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), Water and Energy Commission Secretariat (WECS), Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM), Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) and Tribhuvan University (TU).
